Puente Armas
About an hour from Coroico, on the road to Caranavi, there are a couple of very high waterfalls at the other side of the canyon. The most powerful of these can be visited, but only during the dry season, and it is highly recommended to go with a guide.
An hour further on the road is Puente Armas, a metal bridge which used to cross the river in Choro, which gave its name to the whole area. Near Choro is the powerful Rio Cajón waterfall, at just 100 meters from the main road.
You have to wade or swim and climb over some big rocks to reach the big lagoon at the base of the fall. It’s a splendid place for a swim and a shower under the strong fall, but the water is quite cool and there is a constant wind from the waterfall. It’s best to go on sunny days.
How to visit:
You can charter a taxi, take a shared taxi to Caranavi and hop out, or go with public transport from Yolosita. See the Puente Armas leaflet for more info.
